Terms of Service

1. Contact – We know it can be stressful having a stranger in the home. Rest assured that they are true professionals and have been thoroughly screened for your protection. We ask that you be pleasant and patient as they do their work. They are great people and want to do a good job for you!

Please route all special requests or concerns to Maid in USA if you need anything. Cleaners are hard-working professionals who are focused on doing their work well. It’s easier logistically for us to coordinate and ensure that your requests are honored. 

2. Pets – Please remove any pets from the home during the appointment. If this is not possible, please have them confined to a specific area or room. 

3. Are You Going to be Home – It is best to leave the home completely unoccupied for maximum efficiency and ease of cleaning. However, if that is not possible, we ask that you exercise patience and empathy.

4. Clutter and Furniture – It is important that the home is as empty as possible before cleaning begins. This will help ensure that the job is done properly and efficiently.

5. Beyond Reasonable Condition – Excessively dirty animal cages or litter boxes, animal droppings, human feces, urine, vomit,  soiled clothing, mold, or other similar biohazards fall into “beyond reasonable condition”. Rodents, pests, or any kind of infestation must be handled with a pest control team.

Unfortunately, we cannot handle overly cluttered homes. We also cannot handle homes that require more than 12 hours of work (a full day’s schedule for a team of 2). 

If the home is in exceptionally bad condition, we reserve the right to cancel the cleaning appointment. 

During the initial walkthrough of the home, professionals reserve the right to make a judgement call as to whether a home falls under this category.

6. Cancellations – If you cancel within 48 hours or less, a cancellation fee of $50 will be charged.

7. Tipping – We encourage tipping your cleaner if you feel they did a great job! A good tip is the ultimate thank you for a job well done.

8. Billing – PLEASE NOTE: A hold will be placed on your account (for authorization) in the amount of your total balance up to 48 hours PRIOR to your scheduled cleaning service. If your service is cancelled for any reason, this hold will drop off within 2-5 days. THIS HOLD IS NOT A CHARGE. Charging is completed the day of your appointment.

If your payment does not go through, we ask that you please take care of this ASAP. If necessary, we reserve the right to pursue legal action to recover any missed payments.

9. Accessibility & Lock Out – Please ensure cleaners have full access to the premises on the day of your scheduled cleaning (this includes access to running water and electricity, being able to complete the job without interruption from other service providers in the home, and beloved pets are not in the way of the cleaning, etc). In the event they arrive for your scheduled cleaning and find themselves unable to access the home or unable to clean, there will be a $50 fee for the time and travel. The arrival time is a window of time, given to you at the time of booking.

10. Final Walkthrough – Please do a final walkthrough within 24 hours of completion of the cleaning appointment. We cannot accommodate concerns past this timeframe.

11. Re-clean – If there are areas of concern, please let us know within 24 hours of completion of the cleaning appointment and we will pass that info to the cleaner in order for them to make things right for you. 

12. Uncontrollable natural events – Please keep in mind that residential cleaning has some unpredictable circumstances such as vehicle accidents on the road or health emergencies that may lead to last minute rescheduling in rare instances. It may be best to schedule your cleanings in advance of having an event or turning over a property. We are not responsible for any outcomes resulting from an emergency reschedule due to the cleaner’s inability to work. However, we will make our best effort to ensure that you have uninterrupted service.

13. Right to Refuse Service – Cleaners reserve the right to refuse service for any reason. Some reasons include: property or condition of home is not as described by client, cleaning job requested not as described by client, cleaners feeling uncomfortable with job site, client or pets. Please keep aggressive or overly friendly pets in a safe area.

14. Right to Reschedule – In order to respect everyone’s schedules, if the cleaning will be a much bigger project than anticipated, cleaners reserve the right to schedule additional time for a different day to complete the work. 

15. Breakage/Loss – Notification must be made within 24 hours of breakage/loss of any personal items. Items which are antique, irreplaceable, hard to find, etc. should be removed for the day of your appointment.

16. Eco-Friendly Products – If you prefer eco-friendly products, please let us know at least 48 hours before the scheduled cleaning.

17. Independent Cleaning Professionals – Maid in USA is not the employer of the domestic worker it referred to you. The domestic worker may be your employee or an independent contractor depending on the relationship you have with him or her. If you direct and control the manner and means by which the domestic worker performs his or her work you may have employer responsibilities, including employment taxes and worker’s compensation, under state and federal law. For additional information contact your local Employment Development and the Internal Revenue Service.

18. Permanent Domestic Referral Placement – A client can hire any independent cleaner for permanent domestic referral placement and work directly with the cleaner, without going through Maid in USA. If you wish to do so, we can send additional information. There is a $2,000 placement fee. Soliciting a cleaner for private placement will result in a placement fee.

19. Hold Harmless – You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Maid in USA and its subsidiaries, agents, licensors, managers, and other affiliated companies, and their employees, owners, contractors, agents, officers and directors, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees) arising from: (i) your use of any cleaning services received by you and performed by the independent cleaners; (ii) any alleged or actual loss or damage to property (including the residence), resulting from the performance of the independent cleaners.

20. Refunds – We do not charge until AFTER the cleaning service is provided. Therefore, we do not offer refunds under any circumstances. We will provide up to two recleans (with a different cleaner/cleaning team each time) on areas missed to ensure your satisfaction. 

21. Chargebacks – In the event that you claim a chargeback on your credit or debit card for the services that were provided by Maid in USA, and the card issuer determines that the you have committed fraud by requesting a chargeback, you shall pay Liquidated Damages in the amount of $750.00 in addition to the cost of service per occurrence. 

22. Without Warranties – TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MAID IN USA DOES NOT WARRANT, ENDORSE, GUARANTEE, OR ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CLEANING SERVICES, INCLUDING THE CLEANING SERVICES PERFORMED BY THE INDEPENDENT CLEANERS, OR ANY LOSSES OR DAMAGES THAT MAY RESULT THEREFROM. THE SERVICE, INCLUDING THE CLEANINGS, ARE PROVIDED TO YOU ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS. USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WORKMANLIKE QUALITY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, MAID IN USA, ITS SUBSIDIARIES, AND ITS LICENSORS DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE IS ACCURATE, RELIABLE OR CORRECT; THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS; OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ANY PARTICULAR TIME OR LOCATION, UNINTERRUPTED OR SECURE.
